Back to Instructors

Sheryl Jackson

I came to yoga from a physical place and quickly realized that it offered significant benefits: mentally, physically and emotionally.  It wasn’t just about the sweat and intensity of a workout, but more precisely about the positive energy and inner peace that I felt after taking a class. I realized that my yoga practice was helping me to rediscover my authentic self.  In 2015, while struggling to find balance and direction in my life, I completed a 200-hour intensive training program to strengthen my techniques. By the end of the program, I learned that yoga was more than a physical practice but a mental way to balance life stressors.  It's the "art" of using your breathing on and off the mat, breathing in, letting it go and then repeating. As an instructor, I embrace students of all levels, offering a strength, breath and alignment-based class. My approach to each asana is with steadiness and ease, as stated in Yoga sutra 2.46, sthira sukham asanam, (steady, stable, and comfortable).  My yoga practice keeps me grounded and also reminds me to play, laugh and let it go…while connecting body, mind and breath.
